Inspiron 1420 not charging
Hello :)
I have a 2 yr old Inspiron 1420. Today it won't charge when plugged in. It recognises that it is plugged in, but isn't charging. The cord connecting to the puter has been bent and the plasticy insulationy bit is damaged; I can see the inner wires. I assume this is the reason why it isn't charging but what do I do next?
(Please keep all answers in plain English, thanks heaps)

Immediately STOP USING the damaged adapter and replace it with a new one. If that doesn't fix the problem, and there's no indication the battery is faulty, then you've a faulty system board.

I think I have the same problem. Last week the plug from the adapter to the laptop was sensitive. I sometimes had to repositoin the jack to make it charge. Now it powers the computer but won't charge the battery.
If it is a faulty system board what can I do about it? Can I send it to Dell to be repaired?
I tired the BIOS Flash thing but it won't work - popup says battery and charger have to be plugged in to do that.
