Inspiron 1545 keeps turning off/Won't boot up
Hi all, I've been struggling with my laptop now for a few weeks.
It started just turning off with no warning/error message, just instant. At first I thought it was caused by lack of power or poor battery. I bought a new battery but aame thing.
The laptop may come on now for about 60 seconds (sometimes 5seconds) before turning off. Strangley if I apply pressure to they keyboard it loads up longer and I sometimes can actually log in allbeit for for a few seconds.
I saw a thread on a forum about overheating so carried out the cleaning by removing back panel and heat conponents. Its now very clean and no dust etx but no joy.
All this leads me to believe it's a hardware issues possibly loose connections or requires conponents replacing.
Any ideas/suggsstions??

If you removed the heatsink, did you apply a new thermal pad? If not, the heatsink may not be making good contact with the CPU.
If you did not remove the heatsink and the system isn't clearly overheating, it's likely you have a power problem - in turn, likely requiring a replacement mainboard. Given the age of the system, you're likely better off putting the cost of that (easily $200+) toward a new system.

Hi, I didn't notice a thermal pad when I removed the heatsink. Just plenty of dust/fluff.
Thanks for heads up ref price... I guess it's time for a new one...
