Inspiron 7000 (7737) problem booting from USB and with BIOS setup
Hello
I am the owner of a new Dell laptop inspiron 17 7000 (7737) with Win8 installed, ourchased in the UK.
Unfortunately I do not manage to start the computer from an external USB key, nor to access the BIOS from the POST screen.
I have upgraded the BIOS to the latest version (A07) however I still do not manage to enter the BIOS with the
F2 or F12 keys during POST (tried everything possible, as for many other users I get the F2&F12 option during POST,
when I press F2 or F12 the writings get highlighted but then windows kicks-in as usual).
The only way to access BIOS/UEFI is from the win8 option
(Windows_key+C->Settings->Change PC Settings->General->Advanced startup->Restart now->Troubleshoot->Advanced options->UEFI Firmware Settings->Restart),
however in this case even if I put as first the option to boot from USB in the Boot page of the UEFI, nothing happens (win8 kicks in as usual).
In this case, I can start from USB if I set legacy mode instead of UEFI, however the problem is that once switched to legacy
I cannot go back to UEFI and start win8, since the F2&F12 keys do not work during post.
I also do not manage to start from USB by selecting from win8 the following option:
Windows_key+C->Settings->Change PC Settings->General->Advanced startup->Restart now->Use a device
Can you help?
I understand from other posts that many users have the same problem. I believe Dell should release a fix
with an update of the BIOS.

The only thing I managed to do is the following:
switch on computer
press rapidly and continuosly the F8 and Fn+F8 key
Try several times (switching off and repeating) until you get the message "Please wait" with the dell logo (any other message/event does not work). Then wait and you should be able to boot to the advances option screen. From there you can boot to uefi, and changing the boot option to legacy you should be able to boot from USB. The only problem is that I do manage to go back to UEFI and reboot win 8 normally unless removing the CMOS battery.
