Inspiron e1505 64 bit windows 8 Microsoft display adapter

I recently wiped my computer and when i turned it back on i  noticed my screen resolution was messed up, so i checked my video card driver and it said that the microsoft display adapter was installed, i have since installed drivers for my graphics card (ATI Radeon Mobility X1400) and nothing is replacing the basic display adapter. is there anything that can be done or should i just throw the machine away?

Try getting the driver from the Microsoft Update Catalog as mentioned here:

http://dellwindowsreinstallationguide.com/driver-sets/inspiron-laptops-windows-7/inspiron-6400-windows-7-64-bit/

You will need to use Internet Explorer.

Try downloading the file again just in case. It has worked for others, see here:

that looked like it was going to work until it said that the system can not find the specified file. Anyway around this?

im sure that it has worked for others, but when I try to install it (witch I have many times and downloaded the file many times also) it says that the system can not find the file specified. Is there a way to prioritize the file or something like that?

Can you upload screenshots?

If you have problems uploading pictures to the forum upload it to OneDrive and make it public and paste a link.

Are your issues similar to here:

http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/forum/windows8_1-hardware/windows-81-usb-audio-device-driver-install-failure/c34265c7-2c33-459a-afd2-e28cee8e640c

There was an issue with a particular update in Windows 8.0 KB2962407 which caused audio issues and maybe is preventing the correct driver from being installed.

If you have Windows 8.0 installed its time to install Windows 8.1 (preferably directly as a clean install).

You'll likely have retail license so follow the workarounds here to enable a clean direct install of Windows 8.1:

my issue seems similar but this issue came when I upgraded to windows 8.1 and I did a full wipe.. im also not seeing a "make public" option in skydrive, only share and I need a specific email for that.

In the web browser, select share to the top and then "Get a Link" in the menu to the left. You can then choose to make the link public.
