Installation of Windows XP
Hi,
Hopefully I am in the correct forum.
I have recently acquired Inspiron 1525 with Vista Home Premium.
I have been using XP on my desktop for ever, and am used to the format.
I want to get both machines talking to each other and with different OS's there are some problems, which would be resolved if both were using same OS.
Can I do a clean install of XP/SP2 on the Inspiron without running into any problems? Is XP on the D:\ drive?
I have been looking at the WWW, and cant find anywhere that gives a definitive answer, there seem to be problems with the drivers?? And, there is so much conflicting advice on setting up file/printer sharing it is very difficult to decide which route to take!
Is there anyone out there that can help? preferably with step by step instructions :emotion-1:
Thanks,
Brian

Drive will need to be set to ATA not AHCI.
You can try the following Drivers.
I would Recommend you try to find a robins egg blue XP SP3 Dell CD.

There is no reason to install XP just so your two PCs can talk to each other.
Frankly, when I tried to share the internet on my Vista laptop with my iPhone, it was much easier with Vista.
