International warranty

Recently I meet with an accident & post that I visited Dell Service centre & Dell technical support. I learnt that the Dell laptops do not come with an International warranty. Moreover, if you want to order a damaged part of the laptop from different country even that is allowed by Dell. Neither the service center or the technical support gives a resolution unless I buy an international warranty, which is 3/4 price of the laptop. I'm in a condition where I have a laptop hardly 3 months old but its not covered under warranty in my country & neither is Dell allowing me to buy the spare that is damaged. I would never recommend anyone to buy any Dell products. This is a pathetic experience with Dell, anyone planning to buy Dell, should think about these situations & rather buy HP or Toshiba laptops.

Dell laptops can have an International warranty however it is not free.

The Dell International Services Program offers the security of knowing you can receive service and support when you travel with your Dell laptop outside your home country. To qualify for international service, you must purchase the Next Business Day On-site Response Service.

There are three methods for engaging technical support when travelling internationally:

  • Call the call center of the country in which you're travelling
  • Call the call center of your home region while abroad
  • Call the International Queue at 512-728-7424 (toll call).
If in the US or Canada, call 800-285-1653 (toll free)
The call center that you contact will perform a problem diagnosis. If repair is needed, the phone technician will arrange for service by contacting the Dell call center in the country where the customer is located. A dispatcher will contact the customer and arrange for service.
Visit www.dell.com/contactdell to view international Dell contact details
* The International Notebook Service is for customers who are traveling with their Commercial notebooks for a period of less than 6 months. Any period of time longer than 6 months requires a Global Tag Transfer to be completed . See - http://www.dell.com/globaltagtransfer

Dell makes it easy to transfer the warranty and ownership of Dell products from one owner to another owner and from one country to another. The transfer process can take up to 10 business days (domestic transfer) and up to 15 business days (international transfer).
Please note not all product types and service contract types are available for transfer outside of Purchase Country.

Please review this list for the most common service contract types that are non-transferable

For transfers of Dell EqualLogic products, please contact EqualLogic support

If you need to register product purchased at a retail store (not purchased directly from Dell), please go to www.dell.com/register
