Keyboard Down Arrow and Delete keys are dead

Do you have an external keyboard you could use?  If so, if the keys work on that one, then I would think that you might need a new keyboard.  A new keyboard should run you $30 to $40USD.

 

If it doesn't work, then I would think that it would be software related, but I doubt it.

 

I really don't have any recommendations on a keyboard.  That to me is a personal preference.  I like to have my keys a bit more stiff than some people.  I like the tactile feedback.  Others hate it this way.  They want the soft touch and no clicking.

 

I would suggest going to some place that sells keyboards and try them out.  Then once you find one that you like, price search.

 

To tell you the truth, I suggested the external keyboard to use as a diagnostic tool.  If you have someone you know that you can borrow a USB keyboard from, I would suggest trying that out first to make sure that you do not have a hardware issue.

It sounds like the connection to the keyboard may be loose.  Or maybe the keys were just stuck.

 

I think we got it fixed.  Later at the Dr office those keys quit working again.  Not wanting to spend my life at Panera Bread, when I got home I remove all the screw under the computer.  Short of major force I could not get the top cover loose, then I noticed through the empty DVD/Battery bay a white ribbon connector in the middle of the computer was separated.  It was nearly inacessible but I was finally able to snap it together with a small long shafted screw driver.  Everything seems solid again and when I flex the computer the mouse dosen't run up the right corner of the screen and hide like had been doing for months now.  I had to do a restore to yesterday to get things working right and my quicken data was corrupt, but I was backed up.  Thanks so much for listening to me and giving me some valueable guidance.
