L502X TV Tuner and Cellular modem questions
Hi,
I've had my XPS 15 for over a year now but today as I got bored I decided to explore two of the features I've never used before and need some help:
First, the TV Tuner, the manual just says to fire up Windows Media Center and follow the instructions on screen, but as this yielded no available channels I need some info to know if the tuner even supports the broadcast where I live. So my question is what kind of tuner comes with that computer (sold in the USA)? I found this here on the forum http://en.community.dell.com/support-forums/laptop/f/3518/t/19475046.aspx saying it's a TVT20 card that supports ISDB-T which I find weird for as far as I know the digital broadcast in the USA is ATSC, is that correct or does it change according to the market the specific system is destined for? And if so, is that card replaceable and is there a compatible card that supports DVB-T what I can buy for my system? No Tv Tuner card is mentioned in my system's spec or device manager and there is no driver for it, but the computer does have an antennae port and arrived with an antennae and a coax cable adapter.
Second, Cell modem. The computer has a SIM card slot and again the manual says nothing but "just slide it in", yet no Cellular modem card appears in the spec, driver list or device manager. I vaguely recall not opting for a cell modem when customizing my system during the order process, my network card is the "Intel Centrino advanced-n 6230 and Bluetooth 3.0". Is that even available on my system or is the slot there just for the people that did buy the cell modem card?

For the WWAN card, if you didn't order it, you don't have it.
The tuner like the WWAN is an extra cost option; if you didn't order it, you don't have.

Thanks for your reply.
Well, after wasting a couple of hours on the subject I suddenly realized there was an easy way to eliminate the guesswork, so I popped the hood and to my surprise there actually was an Avermedia H339 card staring back at me from it's slot...
So that refines my questions to these:
1. How do I find out if that's an ATSC or DVB-T card? on the card there was a barcode at the end of which it said "H339AE-HF" and a KC certification for model "AVM H339(B)", maybe one of these is an indication?
2. How come the card doesn't appear in the Device Manager neither as itself nor as an unidentified device? is it somehow powered off and need to be powered back on to work as can be done with the WLAN card? I did find an Avermedia driver in Dell downloads, which I'll try when I get back from work, but I would expect it to show up one way or the other even without it.
