Latitude e6330 won't turn on - tried everything!

Hi,

My Dell Latitude E6330 have been laying in a drawer for the past 6 months, and when I pulled it out it would not boot.

When I insert the power cord, the battery lamp briefly turns on, then the lamp turns off.

When I press the power button, the button lights up and the harddrive spins up, caps lock light is on but nothing else happens - screen is black.

If I press the power button again, the fan spins up full throttle for 5 seconds then turns off - still no diag.lamps.

Tried: Disconnected battery, removed ram, removed harddisk, removed systembattery, different adapter nothing helps.

Unsure about warranty, as the computer was bought user. It is barely used.

I'm rather tech savy and know how to change a part or two if someone could point me in the right direction.

Hi ,

Good day !Thank you for writing to the community.

In this case when the power button is solid on it indicates that the system is posting. Now to the top left corner we should be able to see the storage ,battery and wifi led's when you turn on the system do check and let me know if any of them light up .Click here for the manual .

Also I would like to know the status of these lights when you disconnected the battery,RAM,hard disk drive from the system.

I have checked the warranty details of the system and it still has the next business day warranty active on the system .

Awaiting your reply after performing these troubleshooting steps.

Have a great day ahead.

Kindest Regards,

Hi Jennifer,

Thanks for your reply.

When I first press "on", the capslock button briefly turns on then off, followed by the hard disk indicator light for about 5 seconds then it turns off again.

- If i press the power button again the fans spins up loudly for 5 seconds then the computer turns off.

Nothing is displayed on the screen during the entire proccess, I suspect the motherboard of being defect.

Disconnecting battery and harddrive does not change this behaviour, however removing the ram causes the system to blink indicating a ram issue (obviously).

Again the computer was bought used secondhand, could you please confirm the warranty of still being vaild in this case?

How do I proceed?

Thanks for you kind assistance.

Hi,

Below are the diagnostic lights which can help us further to resolve the issue  ,

Now kindly confirm what are the status of the other 2 lights when you say that the hard drive light is on.And I would like to know the status of the lights when hard drive ,battery ,memory modules are removed. Also may I know if these components are working fine on different system.

About service call we can arrange for a service call once you have the invoice with which the system was sold from Dell.Kindly send that information via private so that I can arrange for tech visit if needed.

Awaiting your reply.

Kindest Regards,

Hi Jennifer,

Unfortunately I do not have the original receipt as the computer was bought second-hand.

- Does this mean that the warranty is invalid?

I am certain the motherboard is faulty, however I will get back to you with the diag. lights tonight when i come home from work.

Hi ,

Thank you for writing back to us !

If the invoice copy isn't available Dell may not be able to replace parts  as we have to verify the credentials and check the systems warranty, in this case once we conclude the system board is faulty you may contact an external vendor to get the parts replaced .This is an alternate solution .

Awaiting a reply ,

Kind Regards,
