M6500 and M6400 RGB LED screen problem, totally stuck. HELP

This is my first post and any help would be really appreciated as I'm totally stuck and sorry for the long post.

I have a fully working M6400 with a nvidia fx2700 and a wuxga CCFL screen.

I also have a fully working M6500 base with an ATI m7820 and no screen.

I want to finish off my M6500 and add a screen but I have tried and failed and have a problem.

First off a while ago I decided to upgrade my M6400 and add an ATI M7820 with RGB screen. I got the GFX card and fitted it and it worked perfectly with the older CCFL screen however when I tried to fit the RGB LED screen there was a spark from the flex cable to the gfx card and the PSU tripped. I tried again and same thing. I then tried the older screen and the backlight would not come on but I could see the faint outline of the desktop on the screen so the gfx card was still outputting but was now not switching on the backlight. I put the old gfx card in and tried the new screen again and the same thing happened so I came to the conclusion the RGB LCD screen had a fault causing a short and so put the older screen back. Luckily the FX2800 was not damaged and the backlight came on. The RGB screen I tried was an LG171WU5 TLB1 and the cable was a 0G748F both of which are the correct parts according to my research.

Now to my current problem. I wish to finish off my M6500 with an RGB LED screen. I have sourced a LG171WU5 TLB1 from a different supplier another ATI M7820 and a brand new ORY89F cable which again according to the internet should all work together. However, when I attached them to the base exactly the same thing happened as it did with the M6400. There was a spark from the gfx card connector to the flex cable and the PSU tripped. I was gutted. In desperation I tried the screen from my M6400 on the M6500 and again the backlight didn't switch on but I could see a faint outline of the desktop. I tried the new screen on the M6400 with another new 0G74F cable and same spark and psu trip. I am truly at a loss.

I now have two expensive RGB LED screen which I don't know if they work or not. Two ATI M7820 cards which appear to have blown in some way and no idea what to do next.

Does anyone know what I have done wrong? any help would really be appreciated.

Yes I did find the solution. You need a SAMSUNG LTN170CT08-D01

I purchased two of these and both worked fine with my ATI M7820 in my M6500

Also if you have blown your M7820 card by plugging in the wrong screen it is straight forward to fix.

Remove the outer heat sinks and look for a very small capacitor very close to the videa cable connector. It will be obvious which one has gone as it will have a black mark around it from the micro explosion. It you are handy with the soldering iron simply remove the damaged cap and bridge the gap with solder or get your local electronics repair store to do it. This is a smoothing capacitor and the card can work fine without it. but you will get a very slight flicker occassionally if you have the screen dimmed and the machine is doing a lot of stuff (disk access etc).

and i can use my own ry89f flex cable and do think i should replace my m7820 for my money back of just do the simple capacitor cut off and thanks you a life saver

i change my mind up there now im trying to see what screen campatible with and you sent me the link for that screen but im in a 60$ budget at this moment so can you help me out or should i just what into i get the rest and also I live in the us

well i sent off that m7820 to get my refund and purchase a another one from a different retailer cause they was out and i tried that soldering tip but i dont have soldering iron so i use a flat head on the stole and melt the capacitor off and like you said it had no serious purpose cause i got the same thing (blinking underscore). But i couldn't reconnect both sides back to together i tried for 4 hours so i call it a night and said to myself that i was going to send it off in the morning and thanks for your help it coulda worked if i had a soldering iron (i remember getting one few years ago but hey). So can you recommend any screens around 60$ and it don't have to be rgb but 1200p that's a must that the reason i chose to build a m6500 and my other option is outdated fx2800m & fx3800m i hope i wont have to do that . so can you please help me with a screen
