No AUDIO in INSPIRON N5050

Hello,
I am currently using windows 10 and facing Audio problems in my dell inspiron n5050 for quite some time.
Previously, I was using windows 8.1 and faced same problems but at that time only speakers were not working but now suddenly there is no sound in my laptop at all...
I am not getting what the problem is because when I reinstalled win 10 today, audio was working fine but it went off completely all of a sudden. Windows is showing no problems in audio drivers and I can guarantee that my speakers are also fine but are currently not working for an unknown reason..

Kindly, guide me so i can get this working again!!
Thanks in advance!!!

Hi Moon Saen,

Dell Inspiron 15 N5050 has not been tested by Dell for Windows 10 operating system you will not find drivers for it. You will need to download the Windows 8.1 drivers and install it on compatibility mode.

Hello. Dell did not support Win8.1 on the Inspiron N5050 (no 8.1 audio driver for that model) so that might be why you had problems.

I am not getting what the problem is because when I reinstalled win 10 today, audio was working fine but it went off completely all of a sudden.

One of the problems with Win10 is that it automatically re configures itself all the time, so things can just suddenly stop working. Someone else reported that his audio stopped working yesterday too (also using Win10 on a laptop not recommended for Win10). There is no way of telling but it might have been caused by a reconfiguration.

Anyway, try installing the Win7 IDT audio driver (Ravi said the 8.1 driver but there isn't one afaik) in compatibility mode. Download the win7 audio driver, unzip the files, write down the location of the unzipped files, halt the automatic installation of the driver, browse to the unzipped files location on the hard drive, find the setup.exe file, right click on it to open the context menu, select the Properties, then the Compatibility tab, and use the win7 compatibility option to install the driver.

If installing the IDT driver does not work then I would suggest that you revert the laptop back to the operating system in which the audio worked correctly (presumably Win7), unless there is a compelling reason to have the Win10 operating system. If there is such a reason then it might help to perform a clean installation of Win10 and then install the audio and other device drivers. We have been told that a clean installation might work better than the upgrade path installation.

From all of the numerous posts we have been getting about audio problems with Win10,  it seems to be very iffy regarding audio.

I'm having the same problem with my Inspiron 1440. I tried installing the driver mentioned and my system aborted the installation. I don't have a Win10 disk to do a clean installation and I'm not sure if I can reinstall it online because I've had it now for several months. I'm also not sure if I can go back to Win7.

After I posted this comment I went to Microsoft.com and went to the Win10 support page. It advised to uninstall the drivers for the speakers, which I did, and I lost the speakers. I couldn't find any reference to my sound system. I then noticed that I had a Win10 update ready so I installed it. My laptop restarted and I had sound again! I tried playing a song and it worked. It must have installed new drivers with the update. I hope this helps anyone else that's having problems with their sound since upgrading to Win10.
