Precision m6500 upgrade from WXGA+ to WUXGA
I need to upgrade the screen on my laptop. This is not my first time swapping a screen, I'm aware of what's involved in the process and can disassemble a laptop down to the board and reassemble it with no issues.
I have a Dell Precision m6500 with a WXGA+ screen (1440 x 900) and I need to upgrade to a WUXGA screen (1920 x 1200).
Dell part number of my current screen is: G121R (Liquid Crystal Display, 17WXGA+, White Light Emitted Diode, Anti Glare, Lg Philips Lcd)
OEM Part Number is: LP171WP9 (TL) (B3)
I need to know what Dell Part Number or OEM number I need to get as a WUXGA upgrade screen. Thank you in advance.

Yes, I did. JAL20 and DC02000HT0L are the part numbers. You'll also need the WUXGA screen. You can tackle the task yourself and buy the parts individually for under $100 shipped for all via eBay, which is what I did. Or you can buy the entire WUXGA assembly (screen, housing, cables) already assembled and just swap your existing assembly out, but you'll spend about $30-50 more. The cable I got off eBay was a little finicky (seller refurbished), but once I added some tape so it maintained tension, it worked beautifully, and has been for over 6 months of road use as a mobile DJ. was yours 50 or 40 pin? and did you have to use a screen was the same pins as your old one?

Did you actually upgrade the resolution of your screen? Can that be done?

Sorry, I know the thread is a year old but I wanted to give feedback. Yes, I successfully upgraded the resolution by doing a cable swap AND screen swap. The cable swap must be done to support the higher resolution. I've been rocking the 1900x1200 resolution for over a year and a half now and I'm quite happy with the results. If you're considering doing it, look for the cable first, and once you've acquired that, get the screen (because the cables are harder to acquire).
