Problems with my Vostro 1520 fingerprint

I am using a Vostro 1520 laptop that came with Windows XP operating system on. I upgrade the operating system to Window 7 32 bit and since then have not been able to install the finger print driver. Any time I try to the driver installation, it stops midway and I get the following message "The upgrade patch cannot be installed by the Windows Installer service because the program to be upgraded may be missing, or the upgrade patch may update a different version of the program. Verify that the program to be upgraded exist on your computer and that you have the correct upgrade patch".

Please how can I resolve this problem? I just reinstalled the Window 7 Operating System and I am getting the same message. I tried to update the driver from the device manager and it installed TouchStrip Fingerprint Sensor (WBF advanced mode). But still the dell fingerprint driver is not giving the same message above.
