Replacing internal battery in Inspiron 7500
Greetings,
My old Inspiron 7500 is still functioning (as a backup), except that the internal battery that controls the clock died. Does anyone know where this battery is located and how I can access it? I realize that the Inspiron 7500 is a dinosaur, but maybe someone out there can help me with this. many thanks in advance.

Dell provides manuals online at Dell Support. Yours is here. However, I've searched thru it and I don't see a bios battery anywhere. Maybe yours doesn't have one. It might be integrated into the motherboard and cannot be replaced.

The CMOS battery is a rechargeable proprietary one soldered to the underside of the system board in this model.

Thank you, Mary G. I, too, looked through the manual and wasn't able to find anything about the battery.

Thank you for this information. If it is rechargeable, shouldn't it recharge when I have the laptop operating from either the portable battery or from the AC adapter? If not, I guess I'll have to live without the correct date and time on the laptop.
