SCREEN TURNED WHITE WHEN TURNED ON
My Dell Inspiron 5520 was working quite well when suddenly one morning when I turned it on it worked normally for about 1-2 minutes and than suddenly there were different colours blinking on the screen and few minutes later the screen turned completely white and for the past 2 days there has been no change in its condition.
Please suggest me what should I do in this case ...is it hardware or software problem....guide me ...
Thankxx in advance

Hi,
The easiest way to help determine whether the issue is software or hardware related is to connect that system to an external monitor and see how the video looks. If everything is fine, then it means that the video card is fine but the LCD is bad. If the same blank, or white, video is displayed on the external monitor, then it could be the video card is bad.
If you get normal video on the external monitor you can then run diagnostics on the system to, hopefully, pinpoint the cause.
Next question, does the screen immediately go white when you try to power it up or do you see the normal black screen and Dell logo come up before Windows begins to start? If you see that black screen and Dell logo then it's an indication that the LCD is working correctly. You can also try going into the System Setup screen (tap F2 button when the system first powers up, when you see the Dell logo, before Windows begins to load). If the screen looks correct there (since that is outside of Windows it wouldn't need any drivers, etc., to be seen), that would help determine whether the LCD is fine.
Also, have you tried moving the LCD back and forth to see if the issue is caused by a loose wire?
You may want to go to our Dell Support Pages, insert your service tag, and take a look at the diagnostic tab. There are diagnostics there that you can run, but also troubleshooting steps you can try to find out the cause of the problem.
Try running these steps I posted and let us know what you find out. Depending on what you do find we can then suggest a few other things as well.
