Setting for what happens when the lid is closed
I have gone to the power settings and made sure that the option "Do Nothing" is selected for when the laptop lid is closed, yet still, the monitor turns off. I now have it set for "Do Nothing" for both when plugged in and when unplugged. Anyone have any suggestions?

Seems you need to use the advanced settings.

My assumption is that you want the laptop display to go off but the VGA port (or whatever your display out) to remain on. I've had a similar problem, but on my laptop I just rebooted and while it was shutting off, I close the lid and let it boot. The monitor initialized and everything was fine.

Just now tried this, and I'm getting the same result. Lid closes, display shuts off.
