Swtichable graphics on Vostro 3450

I have updated the bios (A11 -> A13) and formatted my notebook and installed win7.

Now when I try to install Intel Graphics driver, i get this message "this computer does not meet the minimum requirements for installing the software", and the driver won´t install .

When i install amd driver ( Dell AMD Radeon HD HD7650 (WhistlerLP); AMD Radeon HD7450 (SeymourXT) ), it install both graphics card (intel and amd) but i can´t switch to amd gpu. I have selected on catalyst to choose de graphic card by power. When i select intel graphic and run gpu-z it only show me one card, when i select amd gpu and run gpu-z it show two graphics card, but the system use intel card (i´m getting low fps in games)

Somebody can help me.

Sorry my poor english

Hi wnibeiro,

You will be unable to change or control the graphic card functionality. It is dynamic. In case you want any particular application to use AMD you can change by going to ‘Catalyst Control Center’ and under this section switchable graphics.  There will be two options ‘Power saving' and 'High Performance'. If 'Power saving' is selected for an application, it uses Intel graphics card. If 'High Performance' is selected for an application, it automatically uses the AMD Radeon graphics card. You can configure it according to your preference. It is advisable that you choose 'High Performance' for application which uses more memory like games etc.

Displays are always exposed to the OS through integrated graphics. This is the reason it will always show as Intel Graphics is in use. It is designed that way.  All graphic intensive processes are done by the AMD Radeon graphics card and passed on to the application through the Intel HD Graphics.

Please send me a private message of the system service tag to escalate to the concerned department regarding the error message you are getting while installing the Intel graphics card.

I have added you as a friend. Please accept my friend request by clicking on my name highlighted in blue and then click on “Friends” tab at the top and then click on “Request to Review” and finally click on “Accept” button.

I am sending you a private message as well. Click on “Inbox” to respond to the message and provide system’s Service Tag and contact details so I may access your system records and check for further course of action. You could also click on Start Conversation to send a private message.

Before format the windows score was above 5, now it´s a little above 3.

Before format when i launched the application CCleaner, it show me the correct card, if i was in high performance it shows AMD 6630M, if i was in Power Saving, appear intel graphics. Now it only show Intel Graphics.

How can I improve the performance?

thanks for you answer

Hi wnibeiro,

Since we are unable to install the Intel video card driver from the Dell webiste which is primary card, I have escalated the issue to the engineering team. I will keep up posted once I get an update.

Hi wnibeiro,

We have tested by clean installing the Windows 8 Operating System on Vostro 3450. After installation AMD driver had a bang and Intel Video driver had no issues.

We installed the AMD Video driver from the support website, the bangs disappeared and the switchable graphics worked fine.

I suggest that you do clean installation of Windows 8 Operating system. Please install the AMD Radeon Driver from the link below which is specific for windows 8.

I am sure this will work.

Hi CARLYLE ERANGA UDUWAWALA,

I recommend you to go to Control Panel > Programs and Features > AMD Catalyst Install Manager and follow the onscreen instruction to uninstall the AMD driver. You may also go through this link for assistance.

Hello,

I have been searching alot on internet for solution on Dell Vostro 3450 graphic card solution. The problem is that I play couple of games on Dell Vostro 3450 like League of Legends and Pro Evolution Soccer 2013. The game overheates the laptop results in massive low fps and freezes eventually by keeping laptop overheated. Although I am using cooling pad to cool the laptop down. My all specifications are correct. I have 5.9 score on windows. On System requirement lab test, it passes. I have already updated the Graphic Card drivers on dell website. But they have not been updated since 2011. I'll be attaching couple of pictures for more information.
