Touchpads

I've owned an Inspiron 6000 for a few years and am thinking of upgrading.  My wife has a recent Vostro but whilst I'm sure it's a good machine, I just don't like her touchpad ... the buttons seem to require a deep press each time you want to click something as compared to my current Inspiron which is more a gentle touch.  I know this sounds silly but sometimes you get used to something and don't want to change ... no matter how petty. 

My question then is to anyone that has bought a recent Inspiron or XPS ... could you tell me if the touchpad is like the old Inspirons or more like the Vostros please?  Any comments would be appreciated.
