USB webcam does not work on Dell Latitude D620
Hi, I just bought a new external USB webcam (plug & play device). It works fine with several desktops I tried, but when I try to use it with my Dell Latitude D620 laptop running Windows XP Pro, it does not install properly. The error message I get is that the driver is either missing or corrupt. I tried a different plug & play USB camera that works with other computers running Windows XP, but got the same error message on my laptop. Any idea how to get this fixed? Thanks.

Hello
Did anyone answer your question, I have the same issue with a Lattitude E5410, win 7 32bits. I have tried 3 different webcams which all work on different laptops.

No, and none of 5 different plug-n-play webcameras ranging in price from $5 to $50 that I tried worked. But a friend gave me an oldish webcam that came with an installation CD (Logitech QuickCam 10). I did not have any problems with installing the driver from a CD and the camera works fine.

I am not sure if this answers the question
When I loaded an old webcam to my laptop just to see if it would work, I had to disable the default
built in webcam in order to install with the software. Then I made the test default to try it
