Unlock Phoenix BIOS password on Vista 64 bit OS for Del studio 1555 Notebook
I changed the password on my Del Studio 1555 notebook (purchased in 2009) with a Vista 64 OS and now I cannot login. Even though I have typed the password correctly, it is not being recognized. The problem is that the Phoenix BIOS initial login password is locked and I am trying to figure out how to unlock the password without spending money for software to do it for me. I am wondering if anyone else has encountered this problem and how they resolved it. I do not have a password back up disk so I cannot use the reset password software. I have read posts on typing in commands at the command line to sign into the computer with an administrator password, but I cannot get to the command line even when I boot up my computer in Safe mode. I have also read that you can remove the battery from the mother board and that will reset it, but I am not sure if I am sold on that option either. Any suggestions anyone might have to resolve this issue would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

That's a Windows thing. Not for BIOS.
BIOS password is saved on a Flash chip which isn't affected by removal of the CMOS battery.
Your only option is to contact Dell.

Thank you for your prompt reply. Looks like I will have to contact Dell and pay a fee to get my password unlocked since my warranty is up. This is the first time I had changed my password since I owned the lap top. Lessons learned for me is to change the password while the lap top is still under warranty!

i have my bios locked on. when i try to enter bios it prompt me for entering the unlock key. i can't call Dell, can someone from support help me please? thank you in advance.
