Windows Firewall and Automatic Updates Won't Turn On- PLEASE HELP!

Hi dgal32,

Going by the error message you mentioned, there are chances that your computer may be infected with malware.

Please run the below mentioned test:

You can also manually turn on windows update by following the steps mentioned below:

Go to Start > All programs > Windows update > Turn on > Download

In addition, I recommend you scan the computer for any virus and then try the same steps mentioned above.

First off, THANK you so much for replying to my problem!!  

I

ran the test and it did not fix the problem.

I scanned my computer for malware using Malwarebytes and AVG for viruses.  It came out clean.  But that doesn't mean a past malware couldn't have caused this problem.

When I tried to manually turn on Windows Update like you suggested, the website gave me this error message [Error number: 0x80070424]   The website has encountered a problem and cannot display the page you are trying to view.

Do you have any other ideas?

Thanks Rick!  That fixed the Automatic Updates problem!  Now what do I do to fix the firewall?

That didn't work for the firewall.  It's still giving me those error messages.

When you first power up the computer, when you see the login screen, wait about 40 seconds and then log in. After you log in, let everything load.

Then check your firewall settings. I know on our one XP system, we get the firewall error message, but if you check about 2 minutes later, the firewall is engaged.

Anyone?  My Windows Firewall will not turn on.

When I go to Control Panel, Windows Firewall- I get error message "Due to an unidentified problem, Windows Cannot Display Windows Firewall Settings"
