XPS 15 crashes game constantly when playing sims3
Hi
Have just purchased an XPS L502x . Whenever I try and play the sims3 on it after a short time (a little over an hour) it freezes and crashes the game. I get an error message stating that the game has experienced a problem and windows is closing it. The game is up to date in terms of patches, as are my windows updates, and I downloaded the new driver updates etc for my dell only 3 days ago. Any suggestions as this is driving me crazy.
Thanks

SIMS3 does not run well on INTEL Graphics. Your Issue sounds like overheating.
Have you tried a cooling pad with fans?

Hi Wondering42,
Welcome to the Community,
XPS L502x comes with the Optimus Technology.System has a discrete Nvidia card and most likely sims3 by default is running using the Nvidia GPU.Right click on desktop, open Nvidia Control Panel,Select Manage 3D Settings,Select Program Settings,Check in the drop down if SIMS 3 is listed there. If its not listed Click Add button. Browse to and select the application executable that needs the new profile.
Also Check the Manage 3D Settings->Global Settings section, change Multi-Display/mixed – GPU acceleration to Single Display Performance Mode.
Right click on the game icon (shortcut on your desktop) and run it with Nvidia GPU and see how it works.
Thank You
