battery light binks orange-Inspiron 6000

Question

My battery light did not stop blinking orange as it does when power is critically low. The computer is plugged in and charging though. It flashes 3-4 times then it flashes green once.

I found that it means there was a temporary battery failure. Can I reset the computer in some way so that the light does not blink orange? Can you tell me how you know I need a new battery?

The only way to stop the blinking is to remove the battery; flashing amber = failed battery.

if it flashes amber 3-4 times and then goes green, it means temporary battery failure. all you have to do is remove the battery & let it cool or just out of the system for a few mins then try to connect it back.   hope this works for  you. if not, better call tech support for possible replacement. :smileywink:

Hi there!

Same prob here with my i6000 since yesterday.

After shutting down the laptop, battery-led is flashing 3-4 times amber, then 1 time green and so on. Additional info: When i press the battery-status button on the battery, it don't show the actual capacity but there are slowly blinking the "20", "60" and "100" leds.

But: My inspiron runs on battery without probs, it's only this blinking, that make's me crazy ;)

Is it really a temporary prob with the battery?

I'm having the same problem with my Inspiron 6400.  The battery light flashes orange 4 times then green.   Thanks for any advice.

Hi friend i am facing same issue wiht i6000. When power cable is removed the battery light goes orange.

When i click on the power management it does not show any battery it says no battery found.

But at the same time it gives me backup of 20 to 30 min.

Don't know what is wrong with it ..
