cpu @ 40% in bf3 low fps

I have an xps 17 l702x, gt 550m, 6gb, i7 2630 qm 2.0 ghz.

I hear from tons of sources that it should be able to run battlefield on medium and some high settings with good fps.

My laptop runs at 1600x900 and ALL low/of settings except texture which is on high. Which gets me an average fps of 28 with fps drops that result in me dying.

Task manager says the cpu is almost always running at 42% and memory is at 3.5gb.

What is the issue here ?, i would like to play this game full screen (1920x1080) without black bars on 40 fps.

"(1920x1080) without black bars on 40 fps." requires SLI video cards with 2 Gigs of GDDR5 on each card.

I have seen systems run (1920x1080) without black bars at 100fps or more but these systems have 3 Nvidia GPUs with 2 Gigs of GDDR5 on each video card with 2400W of power supply.

For clarification the black bars show up because 1920x1080 is the native res on my screen, so playing at 1600 results in black space around the game which feels like playing on a 15 inch screen.

Of course i meant at the lowest possible settings. From what i have seen and heard so far i should be able to play at medium settings on 1080p with reasonable fps. I have seen people with 4 gb less memory and a 540m out performing my laptop.

Right now i cannot play with anything other then lowest settings at 1600x900 and i still get fps that is not satisfactory for an fps. Does this sound right for the specs i have ?.

Maybe your xps 17 uses microsofts plug and play instead of the 555m?

A few games I have played had huge lag because of this and after changing this I got good performance.
