dell studio 1555 battery not charging

Question

The laptop battery was working fine until 2014-01-01. The laptop battery charge stuck at 14%, when I mouse over the battery indicator, it indicates plugged in and charging. However, as soon as I unplug the AC adapter, the computer shuts down. Also, not able to boot with AC unplugged.

1) Did the unplug AC and remove battery,press power button for 30 seconds, DID not work

2) The battery health meter indicates the battery is operating normally.

Any suggestions?

I would suggest you to update the BIOS and check for issue resolution. Please enter your service tag # on the link below, then download the BIOS from BIOS section onto the system and install it.

After the BIOS was updated, I get a battery not identified error during reboot.

I’d suggest that you follow the steps mentioned below and check for issue resolution.

Switch off the computer.
Disconnect the AC adapter from the system.
Remove the battery from the computer.
Press and hold down the power button for 15 seconds.
Then connect back all the peripherals and check if the battery is getting detected in the system.

Also, Please let me know if you are using factory shipped battery with the system.

battery is still not charging after performing your suggestion. The battery in the laptop is the original battery that came with the laptop. It is more than 3 years old.

It looks like it’s an issue with the battery on the system. I would suggest you to run the test on Battery on the system.

1. Open the link http://dell.to/14YjKb2

2. Select ‘Hardware’ under ‘Choose a Diagnostic Type’.

3. Select ‘Battery’.

4. Click on ‘Run Diagnostics’ button.

5. Let me know if the results.
