driver updates - how to tell which already installed?

I'm confused by Dell's support page, specifically drivers and downloads needed for my computer. How do you tell which ones you really need? The list does not seem to change, even after I install a recommended driver (that driver remains on the list).

Hi tfox37380,

The website is working as designed. The list would not change as it is only supposed to give you download links for the computer. A specific model can have different specifications based on the user’s requirements.

To verify, if all the drivers are successfully installed, you can use the following steps:

  • Click on Start
  • Right-click on Computer
  • Click on Properties
  • Click on ‘Device Manager’ on the left sidebar
  • Check if there are any drivers listed under “Other Devices” or any listed drivers has any exclamation marks on it

If you want to check the version:

  • Right click on the specific driver
  • Click on ‘Properties’
  • Click on ‘Driver’
  • Driver version will be mentioned
  • You can verify the same from the support site under ‘Version’ list

Usually there are three kinds of updates required for the computer:

  • Urgent
  • Recommended
  • Optional

It is advisable that you always install the updates that are urgent. That can also be done from the general tab if the update is urgent.  You can refer to the screenshot.

Hope this information helps.
