My wife is concerned about emf emissions on the new Dell laptop that I am purchasing. the most recent post on this issue seems to be from 2001. is there anywhere where I can get the rating information regarding Electromagnetic fields on the Inspiron 1720. thanks

Best source for that would be the Federal Communications Commission standards in the US, which the notebook must meet.

OK I went there and found some large Pdf files regarding emf's and laptops but I dont have a law degree to figure out what they are saying. Isnt there a dell technician monitoring these posts who might have the information that I want, or at least reassure me over emf emissions from inspiron laptops?

By law each computer must state compliance with mandatory limits on emissions on a label attached to the product. My Inspiron 1520 certainly has such a label.

For more information see the DELL Regulatory Compliance Homepage at the following link:

http://www.dell.com/content/topics/global.aspx/about_dell/values/regulatory_compliance/reg_compliance?~ck=ln&c=us&l=en&lnki=0&s=corp

Using the above link you can access the Product Safety, EMC and Environmental Datasheet for the Inspiron 1720.
