how do i disable the F1-F12 additional operations on the keyboard?

Thanks for trying to help, what im trying to do is make it so that when im pressing the F1-F12 keys  it no longer performs the customized functions(Ex: my F1 key also mutes the audio, my F2 key lowers volume, and my F3 key raises the volume) how do I stop them from performing these additional operations.

Im trying to figure this out because when im playing a certain videogame(minecraft) i cant use the F1-F12 key to perform their in game functions they only do the operations that are additionally assigned to them.

if for some reason anything else is needed please ask.

Hi crossxfire,

Thanks for posting!

The Function keys are assigned according to the Operating System, and the model of your computer, neither of which appears in your post.  If you could post back with your computer model and what OS you are running, then the experts here can assist you better.  Thanks.

Regards,

Robert

You can enter BIOS...There is a setting in there that will turn off the "Fn" setting of the "F" keys and will make them work straight as "F" keys and not their perspective Fn setting.  You'll then have to press Fn+F key to get them to do the function settings.  If you post your model, we may be able to look up how to get into BIOS and tell you where to find the setting.

Reboot the computer.

When you see the Dell logo during POST, press the F2 key to enter the setup screen.

Once you get into setup, you'll find a setting in there that should allow you to turn off the automatic "Fn" setting on those keys.  You have to go into this section and tell it what you want the F keys to do by default.  If you turn off the "Fn" setting, then you'll have to press "Fn" and the F key that you want to use that feature.  Ex: Press "Fn" + "F2" to mute sound.
