I don't know of an alternate Realtek driver you can use, but there are a lot of sites with Realtek drivers and maybe someone on a site like notebookforums.com knows where to find an alternate.

There is a native HD driver in Vista which you can use if you install that OS, however I believe the Mini l0 ships with XP which has a native Intel AC97 driver but not an HD one.

thanks for the response, jim.  i'll check the netbook forums.

by the way, i  have mini 10 that runs XP and the Intel HD Audio is listed in my hardware devices...any idea how to setup it up as the active driver?  i've tried the 'sound and audio devices'....and the intel isn't listed in the dropdown menu's.

thanks again!

If your computer uses an integrated Intel graphics controller, then there is an Intel audio driver for the purpose of enabling audio over HDMI when that is in use. It is separate from the regular Sigmatel audio system and does not route audio to the speakers. Maybe that is the Intel HD Audio you see listed. It is found as a subfolder of the graphics driver I believe.
