red screen when starting up and bad quality after startup

hi,

i have a Inspiron 17R N7110  and since yesterday i have a very peculiar problem.

when starting the pc, instead of a black screen, the screen is red, the windows logo is very unclear.

after the startup and at the login screen there are red stripes ( like clouds) all over the screen.

and when logging in the quality of the screen is bad.

when attaching an external screen there are no problems.

i have checked all setting on the display to no avail.

i ran the diagnostics on the bootup and found no errors.

Can anyone help

If the system is in warranty, call Dell for repair.

If it's out of warranty,

1.  Remove the battery and unplug the system. Hold the power button for 30 sec.

2.  Unplug and reconnect both ends of the cable that runs between the display panel and mainboard.

3.  Check the cable for damage.  If it's damaged, replace it.

Try powering up again.  If the problem persists, replace the display panel with a new one.

for now the problem seems fixed.    opened the laptop,  re-attached the display connector , although it was in place.

this seemed to do the trick.    laptop working fine now.

thanks for the help.
