usb drivers for Dell Latitude CP

I have an old Dell Latitude CP that I purchased used.  It has Win98SE, but it didn't come with a driver disk, (or a Win98 CD).  How on earth do I find the usb driver for this?  I'ver searched, but no luck.  I'd need to download on my other machine, and then install in the Latitude through a floppy I guess.  I just can't find the drivers to download.  thanks,  -JoeG.

These are all the drivers available for the Lat CP/Win98SE.  98SE provides support for USB, so I'm not sure what it is that you might need, unless you're trying to boot to a USB drive, which might present a bit of a challenge.

Hello Joegum,

Microsoft has included the USB drivers since Windows 95. What device are you trying to plug in and use on the USB port? Every device needs its own driver to work with the port. Windows ME, 2000, and XP does have drivers built-in for devices like flash memory drives, etc. but Windows 98SE did not. Jerry

Thanks for all the advice. I use Verizon DSl and I either need to connect through the usb port or through an ethernet card with port in the pcmcia slot. Win 98 tells me that it doesn't have the drivers installed for the pcmcia slot,, so it won't work with the eth) card, even thopugh I have installed the card manufacturer's software. I tried to conect through the usb slot, but Win98 informs me that I don't have the drivers installed for the usb port. I also tried installing verizon's software, but I'm still informed that the correct drivers arent' there for a conection with the usb port. Apparently, I can't get there from here. Thanks, -Joe

I don't know what kind of PCMCIA card you have there, but I do know that the Lat CPi and CP models which have had 98SE properly installed on them will run most PCMCIA hardware properly, but only if you've installed the proprietary software for the card(s) properly as well.  All of the mainstream cards (Linksys, 3Com, etc.) will work just fine in those, although there are a few no-name cards that ISPs are fond of furnishing for both desktops and portables that can be bears to get installed and properly configured.  Off hand, I think I'd try to get things working via the PCMCIA card, rather than the USB port, but that's probably going to depend on what kind of card you have, and whether the software for same is on there properly.
