BIOS Update Inspiron 24 Model 5459 Frozen
This morning the Dell Update assistant told me to update the BIOS. When I clicked the update it froze up the computer and now it will not do anything. The power light flashes orange and that is it.
Did Dell just destroy my computer with their update or is there something I'm missing.

Most likely you didnt even need this update. It was based more for 8th gen processors. Dell needs to do something. Please read this post here. I left a pretty good reply on whats going on and the only ways to really fix this issue. Hope this helps here is the link

Recent BIOS update caused my computer to lock up, when re-starting the error message "Boot guard verified DXE that is fail system will shut down press any key" appeared. Have tried resetting CMOS but no luck. Do you know of any fixes?

The only fix for that is a replacement system board.

First I would try this...Its work a shot..
Unhook the mouse keyboard monitors power cable everything from the back or any ports such as wireless receivers....etc.
Disconnect all the cables from drives, memory, pci cards(or any installed cards) unplu all cables such as power etc. Basically strip all the plug and play parts....
Then remove the cmos battery...
Hold the the power button for 30 -60 seconds(60 to be on the safe side) to clear out the memory in the bios.
Wait 30-60 minutes put the battery back in and assemble everthing. Plug it all back in and see what that gets you...
Flashing your bios is an expert upgrade. Manufacturers never stress this enough. It should always be flashed and not installed through windows...So many things can go wrong when updating a bios through windows...I dont even know why this option is even available...
If this doesnt work your motherboard will have to be replaced..

Same here. Have an Inspiron 7459, installed the "urgent" bios update. Computer froze and now will not turn on at all. Power is reaching it but the power button only lights for a fraction of a second and the fan spins for the same time. Seems like this bios update is destroying pc's at a rapid rate. Dell support say I need a new motherboard as I guessed. It might not be so bad if you could get a new motherboard but none are available anywhere, even if you want to pay for one. I want Dell to pay for destroying my £1100 computer by encouraging me to load a faulty program. I only loaded it because they scared me by marking it "urgent" and now what I was scared of, a compromised or damaged computer, has been caused by their update!

I have the same problem. I switched the jump pin from Pin 1 to Pin 3 and it worked.
