Dell Inspiron 3847 Upgrade (GPU)
I am looking to upgrade my old Dell Inspiron 3847 that has only 4gb of ram, 4th gen i3, and a really old gpu.
I have a budget of <$400.
Right now I am thinking of buying an i7-4790/k, gtx 1050 ti/1650/1660 super/rtx 2060, a 500w psu if I don't get the 1050 ti, and 16gb of ram.
I am also curious if there is a difference between the gtx 1050 ti and the other gpus I listed above (For Minecraft with shaders, I'm hoping for avg of 100+ fps), I want to avoid changing the psu if possible.
Could anyone help me decide or suggest me an even better setup? Thanks

The gtx 1660 ti might also be an option

The Inspiron 3847 might support an i7-4790/k CPU, but you likely won't be able to overclock it. So would an 4th gen i7 "non-K" be a less expensive option? (Make sure you have latest BIOS installed before swapping CPUs.)
Check the PSU requirements for the specific GPU you might want. Your stock PSU is 300W, and probably doesn't have a 6-pin PCI-e power connector directly from the PSU. At least this 1650 Super requires a 350W PSU and the 6-pin PCI-e power connector.
You might want to check userbenchmark.com to compare performance of what others are using in the Inspiron 3847. You still have to check PSU requirements, etc.
Is it worth upgrading this PC which is ~10 years old?

Also, does the rx 6600 xt work on this? I checked userbenchmarks and I think it does support it in the "build pc" section.

Unfortunately userbenchmark doesn't mention the size of the PSU in any of these PCs. So you still have to find out what PSU size the specific (RX 6600 XT) card you'd want needs, and whether it also needs a direct PCI-e power connection from the PSU.
Also check the dimensions of the specific card to make sure it physically fits inside the Inspiron 3847 case.
