Yes but the old fan and the new fan are wired differently.

Without the proper wiring or fan this error NEVER goes away. Worse sometimes the mis wiring damages the sensor on the motherboard permanently.

Dell Fan wiring is non standard on some models.

With regards to my desktop, how would I go about disabling this feature.

The original processor fan had a Blue, Yellow, Red, Black standard, whereas my current Noctua fan has a Black, Yellow, Green, Blue standard.

My system is a Dell Inspiron 3671 Desktop.

I replaced the old processor fan with a Noctua 80mm fan. 

There are ZERO options to disable this EVER. Either use the proper fan or Re wire a fan to be Dell standard.  It may already be too late since you plugged a standard fan onto the Dell header.

There is even a Dell to standard adapter cable.

You did not say which exact model you have.

noctua is not wired for some dell models

its very likely you fried your fan header permanently due to dell vs standard

The other issue can be the fan doesn't ever reach 2500 rpm as its limited to 1700 Rpm.

There is no support for noctua from dell.

this is not standard fpr dell as the wire order is different

I have a new idea.

On my motherboard, there's a spare SATA PWR port.

Could I use this to power a separate Noctua fan? Is that possible?

Not sure there is a 4 pin to 3 pin because thats not needed. That of course assumes standard wired fans.

You put the 4 pin on the 3 pin header with the blue PWM wire not working.

Putting noctua fan on sata power will NOT resolve the error message. DELL  cable plugs into the sata power connector on the motherboard to add 2 sata power connections.

Dell does not use standard wiring or Pinouts on their fan headers.

Dell fan wires are deliberately swapped round.

PWM and Tach and 12v and Ground.

For 3 wire they reverse 12v and tach.

This can lead to self destruction for a dell fan on standard motherboard or the other way round.

Open the pc and check the white and black cables (on the optiplex 7070) I had this problem but solved it
