Inspiron 27-7775, USB drive issue

Hello,

Just to tell that I have bought two Inspiron 27 7775 on November 2017, and both have this problem, like you.

 - if I plug a USB hard drive, Windows complains that the peripheral is faulty. The hard drive clics and refuse to start spinning.

- if I plug a USB key, it works... but only USB keys work... problem with power drain ?

Everything is up to date, and hardware diagnostics tools found nothing...

Kind regards

Hello,

Thanks for the details, but I think what you're describing as nothing to do with my problem.

By the way, as I just wrote,Dell seemed to have adressed the issue because, today, I can use and plug a USB disk drive on the lateral USB port of my two AIO.

Regards

Did you test the USB hard drive on all six USB ports? Did the USB hard drive ship with its own power cable?

As I was perusing the forums as to why the side USB 3.1 port on my Inspiron 7775 (AMD Ryzen) AIO would not work with most USB thumb drives, I happened upon this post.

It's not whether a USB port will supply power to a peripheral or not. All USB ports do that, up to a maximum amount of power specified in the USB spec. What PowerShare does is supply charging power to a USB peripheral (like a cell phone or tablet) when the AIO is TURNED OFF but plugged into AC. It makes it convenient to charge a device while the PC is off.

Now, if I could just figure out why my USB 3.1 port doesn't work on my 7775 (as others have also said with their 7775 and side USB port).

Sorry for the delay, but I didn't receive the notification when my post was answered :-( By the way, by the time I wrote the first post, Dell seemed to solve the issue because as of today, I can plug and use USB disk drive on the lateral USB Port. So is it on your side ? Regards
