Inspiron 5675, CPU compatibility

I have the Dell Inspiron 5675 with Ryzen 5 1400 and RX 570. I want to upgrade the CPU and am considering replacing the Ryzen 5 1400 with either a Ryzen 5 2600 or a Ryzen 7 1700X. I'm pretty sure the 5675 doesn't support the second generation Ryzen CPU's (please tell me if this is wrong), and I'm wondering if a first gen Ryzen 7 would be compatible. Thanks!

The Ryzen 7 1700X should work as it is one of the supported CPUs on that model. And according to Game Debate the 1700X is 60% better in performance than the Ryzen 5 1400. They both use the AM4 socket and I see nothing in the BIOS files that implies it would not work.

Hi,

Ryzen 5 2600 or any other 2nd gen Ryzen will not work on an Inspiron 5675. Dell has released the Inspiron 5676 and I highly doubt they will release a bios to support 2nd gen Ryzen procs on the 5675. The 1700x and or the 1700 will definitely work with the 5675.

You probably have the 07PR60 motherboard, it will support up to the R7 1800X according to Dell. The last BIOS update was back in March, and I haven't seen anyone try a 2nd gen CPU.

The good thing is that because the 2nd gen chips are out, the prices on the first ones are dropping. I can say without doubt that the R7 1800X is a very powerful CPU and I'd say go for it.

So I'm probably going to get the Ryzen 7 1700X and I'm wondering if I can use my Ryzen 5 1400's fan instead buying a new CPU fan?

I’m about to do this exact upgrade to my Inspiron 5675, I’m curious how well this worked for you and what you did about the fan

does this mean I could upgrade from a ryzen 5 1400 to a ryzen 7 2700 without a change in the motherboard product?

If you read above they said no, the Ryzen 7 1800X is your best upgrade, as the 5675 motherboard won't support 2nd gen cpus.
