Inspiron 5675, upgrade to Ryzen R5-1600?
Quick question,
A buddy has a 5675 with Ryzen 3 proc and wants to upgrade to a ryzen 5 1600. I told him that this should work. I know Dell never sold this Cpu in the 5675 but did sell the 1600x and also sells Ryzen 7 1700's non x at Best Buy with the 5675. This should be a simple remove old proc, install new proc with thermal paste and boot up. I will make sure he is running newest bios prior to upgrade. (And yes he is out of warranty, only got the 1 year and that has expired...last month, I know upgrading proc revokes warranty... non issue here.) Thanks for any input on this.

Hi Memestar,
I ended up installing a RYZEN 7 1700 in my buddy's pc with no issues at all. He came across a few more bucks and decided to purchase the 7.
I am most certain that any zen 1 proc will work with the Inspiron 5675. Make sure you have the latest BIOS 1.3.7 installed. You should have no issues with the Ryzen5 1600.
On another Note, another buddy tried a 2nd gen Ryzen in his 5675 and that failed..... Unless Dell releases an updated BIOS the 2nd gen Ryzens will not work... ie: 2700, 2700x, 2600, etc. With the Inspiron 5676 out I highly doubt they will do this as this will cut into 5676 sales. I told him to sell it on ebay! Best of Luck and Take Care!

the 5676 and 5675 motherboards have the same part numbers, but different BIOS revisions. not sure if there is any way to use the newer bios on a 5675.

Hi,
The Ryzen5 1600 will work with an Inspiron 5675. You should have no issues. Make sure you use a good thermal paste. Glad you installed the latest BIOS. If this is your first processor install YouTube processor installation, lots of good videos out there. Enjoy your new processor!
