Inspiron 580 and 518, differences?
I am wanting to upgrade a dell inspiron 518 and I can't find anyone upgrading the 518 with any GPUs and I see that there are people upgrading 580s and was wondering what is different between the 2

Both models are too old to upgrade. Put the money towards a new or newer computer.The 580 is 13 yrs old, while the 518 is 12 yrs old. Neither one can run Windows 10 since there are no windows 10 drivers.

Are you planning on buying one? If so, buy something else.
If you already have these PCs and they have 4 GB of RAM, then I would suggest upgrading to a 120 GB SSD for $20.

agree with the replies. here are snapshots of spec.
518 chipset: G33, core 2 duo/quad, LGA 775 socket
580 chipset: H57, i3/i5 1st gen cpu, LGA1156 socket
