Inspiron 620, motherboard, CPU upgrade
I've been thinking of upgrading the CPU of my Dell Inspiron 620, however with my current motherboard (GDG8Y) the max CPU is a i5-2500. That isn't really worth the upgrade because I currently have a i5-2310, so I read about upgrading the motherboard that can handle a better CPU. My PSU is only 300w. I have a tower and I would like to know if it is possible to change the motherboard and the CPU. If so, which motherboard and CPU would you recommend? My GPU is a GIGABYTE GeForce GT 1030. Thank you.

I suggest you also get a $50 after-market case (like a Cooler-Master) and build a custom computer with those parts (PS and MB). Move over GTX-1030 and whatever else. Look at a loaded Aurora-R7 online to get an idea of what you should put inside it (eventually).
So, this is not a "Dell Forum" question. There are lots of better forums that help users build custom WinTel computers.

Some things to consider:
Any new mainboard will require all new RAM as well -- and won't easily fit that chassis without major reverse engineering.
Also budget for a new Windows license, as once you swap the board for a non-Dell unit, the original version will not activate.
Along with the other new parts you'll need (heatsink-fan, etc.) - you're essentially going to be building a new system.

Recently had this discussion with my nephew.
What we did to upgrade was buy an
Optiplex 9020 Mini Tower with Intel Core i7 4th Gen 4770 (3.40 GHz) 8 GB 2 TB HDD Windows 10 Pro 64-Bit and Add a GTX 1050TI video card.
The cost of Windows 10 Pro alone is $200
