Inspiron G5 5090, power supply upgrade

I recently purchased the Inspiron G5 5090 Gaming computer and want to upgrade the power supply from 360 to 460 watts.  I have searched Dell's site but have not been able to come up with a part number.  Anyone??

Just call up Dell Spare Parts (for USA) at 1-800-357-3355. Have your Service Tag and the part number you want available...

Thanks for the replies.  Dell Spares Sales was able to help me find the 460 watt power supply for my chassis.  It arrived today and I have installed it and upgraded my video card with no issues.

p/n 4FWF7 PWR SPLY,460W,EPA,BRZ,MT,CHNY

p/n HG9XD PWR SPLY,460W,EPA,BRZ,MT,ACBL

p/n 92WNC PWR SPLY,460W,EPA,BRZ,MT,LTON

It would not likely have 8PIN card power because that Implys 300W Video Card.

460W unit is not designed to power 300W video cards.

Search is your friend...

Read this if you want to purchase the 460 W PSU from Dell.

And search for yourself to see if anyone has installed an after-market PSU in the G5 5090...

Oh, believe me, I have searched.  I found that post quickly when searching, but none of the three part numbers come up when doing a search on Dell's website or Google.  I tried the online chat and the only response I got was "dell doesn't deal in power supplies".

The problem is I can't find a part number for the power supply.  I am on the phone now with Dell.  They are having problems finding it also.

@DELL-Jesse L listed these Dell part numbers for the upgraded PSU for the 5090 in that other thread:

p/n 4FWF7 PWR SPLY,460W,EPA,BRZ,MT,CHNY

p/n HG9XD PWR SPLY,460W,EPA,BRZ,MT,ACBL

p/n 92WNC PWR SPLY,460W,EPA,BRZ,MT,LTON

Each of those is for a different brand of 460W PSU that Dell has used in this PC model, eg LTON is probably Lite-On.

Are you able to share the p/n that you received and that worked in your chassis?

Also, does it have the 8-pin card power?

thx

Would it be prudent to have the 460w psu instead of the 360w one I have now if I upgrade my CPU to the Intel i9-9900K, video card to the Nvidia Geforce RTX 2080, and add 4 sticks of 16 GB ram or will all this run ok on the 360w psu I got on it now?

I made the decision to upgrade the PS because the NVIDIA GeForce GTX1660 GPU recommended a 500 watt PS. Per web searches I have done, the i9 draws 130 watts at full speed and the 1660 draws 120 watts. GeForce recommends 650 watts for the 2080. And as far as I know the 460 watt PS is the biggest one Dell has for this case.

Hope that helps,

-Jeff

P.S. My biggest complaint with the G5 5090 is it has very poor ventilation. I have to keep a very close eye on CPU temps. They tend to get up there a bit when running GPU intensive apps like iRacing and Call of Duty.

@Jeff S. - I am running the i7-9700 with 2070Super, also with two additional SATA SSD and an additional NVMe drive as well as the 2TB HDD in the front, and all running fine with the 460W PSU. The new 10th Gen ones come with 500W, so that would be available (hopefully) as a spare part if you wanted to upgrade.

Re CPU temps, there is another thread which details a lot of us who have changed the stock cooler over. I run the TX3 Evo and temps are well under control. No other fan changes (still running stock 80mm in the rear afetr experimenting with other 92mm fans).

I run iRacing, Assetto Corsa, the new Marvel Avengers game etc and no temp problems here. Prety sure in iRacing it doesnt hit over 65-70. Avengers pushes it a bit more.
