Inspiron One 2305 will not boot . . .

The power button works fine, lights up to a white glow, turns amber after a while.  Hard Drive activity light flashes.  The display gives off a faint gray glow for a minute, then fades to black.  Attached a dvd player to the composite inputs: display works, minor audio buzzing.  I can access the hard drive through my home network from another computer.  No programs or functions transfer over to my other computer.  Advice is appreciated.
