Intel AMT HECI ME Driver (Urgent Install required?)

Dell.JPG

I keep getting this reminder to say I should install an urgent Update but I'm not using Windows Operating System WT4 W74 or W72. I'm running an Inspiron 3650 with regular Windows 10. Should I simply ignore this?

Thanks RoHe. It's kind of irritating to keep getting these reminders when they come from the system manufacturers. Once again I've done the system update check and the response was there are no driver updates required for my system. Wish Dell would sort this out. Thanks for you help anyway.

Here's some info from Dell-- http://www.dell.com/support/home/us/en/04/drivers/driversdetails?driverId=H8M3C

It is for all windows versions--expand the Operating System list. You must have Dell System Support Assist. If you don't know where the reminder is coming from, don't click on any links. Go to your driver page here to check if you need it--

Thanks for your response Mary G. I have Dell Support Assist and the Intel AMT HECI ME Driver update is in the list. The thing is when I open System Devices / System on my computer, there is no Driver of that name in that list. I recall that in the past I was prompted to install an update with a similar sounding name and it caused a number of problems including slowing the system down markedly. I restored my system to an earlier date and it was back to normal.

At that time I posted this problem on the community and was told that on occasion, the wrong driver information is sent out and that I shouldn't have received that update. This is what is concerning me. It's an official Dell update reminder from the correct source but as I don't appear to have that Driver currently installed, should I have received it?

Thanks for any help.

Furthermore I just checked here   http://www.dell.com/support/home/uk/en/ukbsdt1/drivers/driversdetails?driverId=4CVY4  and the Inspiron3650 is not in the Compatible System list.

This urgent reminder has started to pop up again quite regularly.

I went to the support assist page again and did the Download and Driver Analysis and got the following message:

No driver updates found. Your system has the most recent updates.

So, what's going on? Anyone?

If you recently updated to Win 10 Spring Update (Build 1803) it might have installed the latest Intel drivers already.

Just a guess, but SupportAssist may be getting "confused" if the driver listed on Dell's site has a different version number than the one you have installed now. SA may see the version you have as "different" than the one on Dell's site so it wants you to install the one that it's finding, even if it's older...

If SA alerts are annoying, you can either uninstall SA from the PC or change its settings so it doesn't launch automatically every time you reboot so you won't get the notices.

Many thanks RoHe Diamond. I do have the latest Spring Windows 10 Update. I'm fastidious in keeping the system up to date but I'm concerned that one day I may inadvertently update a driver that Dells Support Assist recommends and get myself in trouble.

I've noted on here that a lot of people have updated their BIOS in the past, killed their system and Dell accepts no responsibility.

I've checked in my device manager and am unable to see any Intel AMT HECI ME Drivers in any of the folders. I'm puzzled.

When I go into support assist and do a driver analysis, The report comes back as "I have all the latest drivers".

I'm really concerned that the Dell Support Assist isn't being very supportive at all in some circumstances and I'm inclined not to rely on it in the future.

Thank you for your response and help.

Did you search the hard drive for HECI? Maybe the driver is a hidden file?

And if the PC is working ok, I -personally- wouldn't worry about it.

I wasn't sure where to look on the hard disc RoHe but seeing as my system is working OK and I've updated to the latest version of Windows 10. I'm going to leave things as they are. It's a shame that I can have very little confidence with Support Assist though.

Thanks for your help.

I personally think you're better of managing updates by yourself rather than letting some app make decisions for you. Just check the Drivers/Download page for this model from time to time. Though, it most instances, the updates probably won't make much difference, IMHO.

You can always disable SupportAssist or just uninstall it. (You can always download it again -for free- if you decide you really do want it.

So just disable or uninstall Dell SupportAssist and/or Dell Update, whichever one(s) you have.

Look on the Startup tab in Task Manager for these apps and uncheck their boxes. Poof....Gone (unless you re-check the box(es) and reboot).
