Keyboard NEED

Hi guys.....I am desperate here. After a lot of years (20 or so) my Dell RT7D40 Keyboard really starts to desolve ;-) Over the years I tried several other keyboards but always ended up with my good old RT7D40. Looked on Ebay and Amazone, but most of them are in the same (used) shape mine is and I really want a new one to get me going again for another 20 or so......There are some new RT7D30 out there but those are not Wireless.

ANYONE who can point me to a new RT7D40 ???? would be gratefully appreciated for life  !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!s-l1600.jpg

Have a look at this (link below) Microsoft Wireless Keyboard 2000 (combo keyboard and mouse).  I'm old time retired computer tech from the "ice ages" and don't like most of the new keyboards either.  I like the feel of the Microsoft I noted, sort of reminds me of the old IBM Keyboards.  I've tried others (hate the Logitech's) and returned them.  My 2000 model keyboard developed a problem and after trying others I went back to a new 2000 model and happy.

www.newegg.com has several mechanical keyboards for sale.  Even ones with the prized "cherry switches".   But, the mechanical keyboards are not inexpensive, you have to pay $$ for them.

That is sort of what I was comparing the specific Microsoft keyboard to the IBM's.  I worked in Federal Government networking and computers and all the keyboards were mechanical (I retired in 1996 so that will give you an idea of how far back I go).

I recently read somewhere that a company resurrected and is marketing a clone of the old IBM mechanical keyboard design that everybody loved so much.

It got a very nice review but IIRC, it was something like $400.00! (No, that's not a typo on my part.) :Surprise: :Ick:
You can probably find it with Google, but who in their right (or left) mind is going to pay that much for just a keyboard, no matter how sweet it might be..?? And IIRC they only build them to order so it may take a while before you get to keyboard heaven again ...

This may be a bit late, but I have a spare Swiss edition ('Z' and 'Y' keys transposed) of the DELL RT7D40 which I could sell. If you swapped over the two keys from your existing RT7D40, that could give you a working QUERTY version.
