RAM Upgrade for Dell Inspiron 3662
Hello there,
I would like to upgrade the RAM on my Dell Inspiron 3662 (DDR3). A Crucial scan says:
"Slots: 2 (2 banks of 1)
Maximum Memory: 16GB
*Not to exceed manufacturer supported memory.
Standard Memory: 8GB removable"
But I can't find anything in product manuals which tells me about how many slots I have and whether I can upgrade to 16GB?. Can I just buy another 8GB RAM and slot into empty slot?

The Dell service manual shows two memory module slots on the motherboard. Identified as #4 and #13 in the motherboard picture.

Dell documentation does not detail whether 8 or 16GB max. Crucial says 16GB (and they are usually correct) but they do not sell 8GB modules.
I did find one 8GB listing on Amazon. No guarantee they will work. In most cases (all that I've seen) both modules must be identical (same brand/type) or there can be problems. This is any brand of PC, not just a Dell.

Hey Fireberd, thank you very much! That answers all my queries. Hear what you say on getting matching pairs too. Crucial not selling the 8GBs did throw me, made me wonder if 8GB was max. Thanks for clarifying on that.
