Swapping HHD with SSD Inspiron 3670
Hello
I purchased my Inspiron 3670 a couple of months ago to serve as a htpc.
My old pc completely died after 8 years but the 3yr old SSD is still in great working order.
I'm interested in cloning the boot partition to my old ssd(128gb) but I cannot get the SSD to show up in disk management in order to clone it with Acronis or whatever. I had to get a specific mini cable for sata power, since this one doesn't have standard power coming from the power supply.
Am I missing something in order to initialize this SSD for cloning?
thanks in advance

So if I understand this correctly. You used a molex adapter cable to SATA for power or a SATA splitter cable? Are you sure the SATA data cable is connected properly and the cable is not defective (have you tried another data cable)? Does the SSD show up in the BIOS (F2 at the Dell splash screen). You can also run diagnostics at the Dell splash screen by tapping F12 and make sure the drive tests good without errors.

I'm sorry...power from the motherboard? You should have a SATA data cable going to a SATA port on the MB and a power cable from the PSU. If the PSU does not have a SATA power cable then an adapter from a molex connector to SATA will work. I know I am missing something here.
For example..

yes,
thanks for the reply @JOcean . I have tried three cables now but one was not the right one. One cable is power from the motherboard and the other is just standard sata comms.
