BIOS Will Not Install

I have an Inspiron 5748 with the A12 BIOS.

A13 has been release - My problem is it will just not install, DOS or Windows!

If I run from Windows I get the messages about rebooting etc, the system then reboots but goes back to Windows login.

If I boot to DOS and run the file it go throughs the steps but when updating it appears for a second that it is installing then just reboots.

I have no error messages at any point, it is like it's the wrong BIOS so it just skips and does not install.

My A12 BIOS is still installed and everything is working fine.

Any ideas why it just won't install?

Thanks in advance.

Do you have Intel Virtualization Technology enabled in the BIOS? Try toggling that off before attempting the update.

Thank you for your message. I will be glad to look into this for you.

What is the present version of BIOS installed, are you trying to upgrade or downgrade BIOS. The latest version available on our support site is A13.

There may be an issue while downgrading BIOS as some system models will not allow a BIOS downgrade.

Many thanks this worked for me.

The only thing I would add is that installing in Windows still failed, got the warnings then just a reboot.

However trying the installation in DOS with the above advice worked.

Encountered the same problem with a Dell OptiPlex 5060, could not update until I disabled the Intel Virtualization Technology in BIOS.

Hi

Tried updating bios on latitude 5430. current version is a07. It appears to upgrade then reboots but once up you can see current version is still a07.

within windows and

using flash64w.exe within windowspe

USING dddp

FLASHING EVERY VERSION FORM 07 TO 16.

virtualization disabled

hdd formatted no os.

I needed to do this as laptop has an intermittent asf2 shutdown. put in new fan and new heat paste.

Please help

Support assistant is extremely slow when downloading bios 1.8.3 to my Dell Laititude 5590. It takes several hours and I have tried several times. Sometimes it starts to validate the upgrade but there seems to be no end for that process as well. Do you have a solution?

I have the same problem with my Dell Inspiron 5378 - the Bios upgrade will not install through Support Assistant. It ran for several hours today with no end in sight.

I downloaded the bios from dell support page and installed it manually. Support assistant and dell command update do not work correctly

Downloading & installing the BIOS update manually was the only thing that worked for me. Thanks!

Disabling temporary the virtualization solved the problem for me.

@Croffordaj

Hi! I got now the same issue on my Dell Precision 5510. Andn the deactivating the Intel Virtualization Technology in the BIOS hasn't helped.

Is there another way known, how to solve the issue?

Thx
