Battery compatibility Inspiron 7590

Good morning,

I bought a new Dell Inspiron 15 7000, precisely the 7590 model with Intel core i7, 512GB ssd, 16 GB RAM and Nvidia GTX 1050. This model will come with a 3 cell 56Wh battery.

Can I upgrade it to a 97 Wh battery without lose the warranty?

What models of battery are compatible with this laptop? I saw that the 6GTPY (or GPM03) can work. Is it correct?

Where have I to buy the battery to ensure to have a genuine product (not refurbished)?

You normally have to use the battery that came with the computer. There are no replacement or upgrade batteries yet available at Dell--the only source to use. There is a choice of batteries when ordering according to this review:

Batteries should come from Dell to be sure of authenticity. Dell computers must have genuine Dell batteries. Here's what comes up when searching Dell-

We are just users here like you. Dell replacement batteries must be used and they must come from Dell. That is an old post you cite and if you read it you'll see those batteries were not available even back then. The 9570 model is not the same as your 7590. Batteries are not cheap, usually over $100.

Thanks for your answer.

I know that there is a choice when you buy the notebook, but if you want the 97 Wh battery you have to choose the i5 version, or the i7 with 4K display. I need the i7 version with the FHD display, but this comes with 56 Wh battery.

In this post I see that these four batteries are compatible with the XPS 15:

GPM03 97WHR, 6 cell
5XJ28 97WHR, 6 cell

5D91C 56WHR, 3 cell
CP6DF 56WHR, 3 cell

Are the same for the Inspiron 7590?

I only would like to know what model of battery is compatible with the inspiron 7590 and where one can buy them, since they aren't avaible on the dell online store.

Does anyone know the answer?

Hi i was wondering if you had any news about switching the big battery in place of the small one?

Sorry to tell you, the 97wh battery cannot replace the 56wh battery. Because it's longer than a 56wh battery. But 56wh battery can replace the 97wh battery.

You can refer to the picture below.

@JAC8513 Hi, but I see some space there around the hard drive bay, so is there any possibility that you can just put the new battery, but lose the space of the hard drive bay

It depends what HDD you are using since there are 2 SSD slots. Mine came with SSD so I was able to upgrade to the larger battery with no issues.

  • Since it was over a year ago, I would have to do some digging to find out where I got mine, but I did successfully upgrade to a genuine Dell 97 wh battery. There is plenty of room provided you have the SSD model which you stated. I do remember there were a few websites selling the genuine Dell part, as I believe they are the same ones used in XPS or a similar model. Sorry my memory is failing me but I did a lot of research at the time of purchase.

  • As for the warranty, I would contact Dell directly if you want to be 100%. There will almost always be some small print stating you cannot modify the internals because it would be easy for you to break something if you don't know what, you're doing. Having said that, the 7590 model is a very good computer for upgrading.

  • Several months after changing my battery (and a few other upgrades) I did actually have an issue with one of my fans, and since it was under the Dell warranty period, they sent a guy out to replace it. He didn't say a word about any of my upgrades, but that's not to say a different tech could do so, I can't say for sure.

  • I ended up getting the larger battery, a second SSD, and added some extra ram, all of it was very easy to do and had zero issues with any of it. The only issue I will mention is the screws on the bottom of the case seem to loosen themselves over time so id keep an eye out for that.
