DELL G15 5511 – IPS Glow, Backlight Bleeding

Hello,

During the weekend, I finally got time to have a look at and enjoy my new Dell G15, for which I have yet to find a category on this forum.

I soon discovered that I had been unlucky, as my monitor has a very noticeable yellowish patch in the top left corner.

I did my research onwards, just as you do when you go to the doctor, and soon discovered that it might be normal, but how normal?

It is true that I tried to take a picture in the dark and with the screen's brightness at 100%. But as you can see, I also took pictures in the normal brightness I use to play video games.

Looking forward to your feedback!

The only solution is either a replacement screen or returning the system for refund or replacement (the latter is an option for only 30 days following shipment, so do not delay your decision and action).

Start by calling Dell support.

Hi, ejn63
Thanks for your reply,

I contacted Dell support via WhatsApp, but they are probably only available half a day on Sunday since they disappeared after 3pm after telling me they would check with their internal team.

Finger crossed I'll hear from them tomorrow!

I was just wondering, as long as the IPS Glow and Backlight Bleeding do not distract my eyes, is it fine to have them? Even if I get a new unit, I guess I will still have to deal with this.

After 2/3 weeks of 'We have escalated the issue, we'll keep you updated once we receive any update from the internal team' where, I've basically been waiting for the replacement as requested within 14 days... a Senior technical expert gets back to me linking the troubleshooting for light leakage, again..

The problem appears to have resolved itself while waiting for a response from customer service.

I did receive a BIOS update. But I'm not sure if it was just a coincidence, or if the Backlight Bleeding lessens over time due to usage and heat.

Out of the factory, the screen may have been tight and is now a little loose? No idea! But I'm very much happy to don't have to deal anymore with this terrible customer service.

I should just buy a new laptop if I encounter any other problems in the future. With customer service like this, extending the warranty is a waste of money.

With the attached picture, I tried to play with the iPhone camera exposure to obtain what I see with my eyes. Yeah, it's way less if you compare it with the previous images.
