DPC latency ACPI.SYS Testing, some questions for dell employees.

same Problem @ my Latitude 5501...
I've uninstalled all ACPI drivers in device manager.

WIN + R -> devmgmt.msc

Node: Batteries -> MS ACPI Battery blabla

Node: system devices -> ACPI- *

after reboot, ACPI has max 307 µs  @ LatencyMon and no audio dropouts until now.

I didn't uninstall the driver, just deactivated it whilst using the laptop which improved the Latency issue but, didn't completely fix the Latency.

To be honest I've packed it away as DELL are unwilling to rectify the issue without me paying more money for service and I have been left out of pocket. 

ACPI is not disabled on my Inspiron 15 5577 that I use in my recording studio.  Same way, my recording studio desktop.  I've run Latency Mon on the laptop for 2 hours and no problems.

As previously noted, a clean install with only needed drivers and recording studio apps and the laptop is good.

One thing to try, disable the Dell Support Assist as it has been known to cause high DPC Latency.  Disable and restart before testing.  I did field testing of a new XPS 15 laptop and it had dropouts and Latency Mon problems.  Disabling Support Assist was an almost 100% improvement in Latency Mon.  Some antivirus programs are another potential (I only use the built in Windows Defender and Malwarebytes).  Look at what is in startup as many are not needed in startup.

I have this issue for years on many DELL laptops and the only thing that works for me is to uninstall these devices every time I work on anything audio related:

I have a modest Latitude 5410, i5-10210U 1.60GHz, with 16Gb RAM running Windows 10 Pro (21H1) and I am able to record hour long live sets with Traktor Pro 3 and Ableton Live 11, with a reasonable amount of plugins, effects and controllers at 48000Hz and 512 samples buffer size with a decent audio interface.

The morning after, I press 'scan for hardware changes' in Device Manager and use this very same laptop on my daily job, letting ACPI.sys and dddriver64Dcsa.sys go crazy again.

Currently the same problem on XPS 9305 i7 16Gb, this is unacceptable on machines over 1800€... I'm currently working with support but I don't think I'll ever get a response.

Whatever say... the problem is usually with the bios software and the way the I/O is orchestrated between the technical components, or even the drivers adjacent to it.

For information, I had in 2019 made a request for correction of the problem on a 9380 via an engineer of higher level which had taken time to be interested in the problem. (contact by twitter)

I've done testing on my Inspiron 15 Gaming 5577 laptop and on two new model XPS laptops that I field tested. I have a recording studio, so Latency is a major issue.  Two items that I found that had a direct effect on latency is the NVIDIA video and Dell Support Assist.  Disabling both "tamed" Latency.  Didn't eliminate it completely but enough that it was not an issue for recording studio use.

you right, it is better to do a fresh installation without any dell utility. Uninstalling them after doing the driver updates...

Have you done any latency mon testing on the 9310 series?

I5 and I7 FHD ? See if this is still present in the 2021 version

I don't know what the exact model numbers were of the test machines, except 15" 9000 series.  One was an i7 10th gen and the other was a recent i5 12th gen. Both had M.2 NVME SSD's

My personal Inspiron 15 Gaming 5577 (7th gen i5, NVME SSD), that is primarily used for "mobile" (on client's site or at a concert) has a clean Win 10 install with only needed drivers and recording studio apps.  It has both Intel CPU video and NVIDIA but the NVIDIA is disabled as it causes random audio drop outs.  I'm using a model designed for gaming and the reason is it has better cooling, which can be an issue with long recording sessions (time powered on).

I think that DELL will not correct the problems because they believe that the measure is in the microsoft recommendations. (support answer)

Dell, can you please fix this? I have Dell XPS 9510 and this issue still persists and isn't fixed. Do something about it.

I have been fighting ith the same issue for the last four years. Even dell replaced my system. But no improvement. I think they are not bothered about the musicians. They only focus on laymen.

As I stated in previous posts, if you want to use it as a DAW either do  a clean Windows install or dual boot with a clean install.
