Dell 5155 bottom gets hot

Inspiron 5515

Inspiron 5515

I have a 5155 inspiron where the bottom gets really warm. The location is the center back.  The processor thermals seem okay.  The max I have seen is 93c under load, but for the most part stays under 55 when just surfing or doing basic tasks (though it spikes higher when charging).  So it isn't like the laptop is overheating, it is just uncomfortable to put on my lap for any length of time.  I had another of these that got exchanged due to screen issues and it didn't have this issue.  I am trying to find a solution, but haven't found one yet.  Hoping for suggestions.

* Go here
* Install the latest BIOS, Intel Chipset, Alienware Command Center Application, Alienware OC Controls Application
* Restart the Laptop after each one is installed

* Run the pre-Windows ePSA Diagnostics
- Turn the Laptop off
- Connect the external power adapter to the Laptop
- Turn the Laptop on and press F12
- Highlight Diagnostics and press Enter
- Click No when prompted for the extended memory test

The issue here is that this doesn't really do anything.  The issue is the case itself is getting hot.  The processor is technically within specs and this suite of tests never really stresses the processor anyway.  I ran cinebench and it hit 92 which still within acceptable range if I am not mistaken.

The problem isn't that the laptop is overheating. It isn't. The thermal tests all come out fine.  However, the problem is that the bottom case itself gets really warm.  It becomes uncomfortable to use.  The fan doesn't turn on until after 60c, but by then the bottom is really toasty.  I wonder if there is a way to adust when the fan comes on, or is there a way to allow more ventilation into the laptop because the only vent appears to be the processor fan as the rest of the vent on the bottom is blocked by a plate of some sort.

The supportassist doesn't work for me.  It just spins forever.
